What is Reiki?

It is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation which promotes healing using universal energy via the hands. Energy healing has been used in various forms for many centuries.

Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or possibly emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness.

Reiki aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure. Improving the flow of energy around the body can enable relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.

What happens in a Reiki therapy session?

We will have a chat so I can answer any questions you have. I will explain what you may feel during the session which varies from person to person. Sometimes there is a hot or cold feeling, tingling, release of muscles or indeed of emotions. REIKI CAN NEVER CAUSE HARM. I will ask if you are happy for me to lay my hands on you or prefer I work in your aura without touching you. Either is fine. You lie on your back on a therapy couch fully clothed and with blankets if you wish. I will sit at the top near your head to start with and gradually work through the body as blockages release. People often fall asleep or enter into deep relaxation so when I finish I will gently touch your shoulder. We will have a chat about how you felt during and at the end of the session and what I sensed and felt.  The session will last generally between 60 to 90 minutes.

What can be treated?

Reiki is both powerful and gentle. In its long history, it has aided in healing virtually any known illness. It is always beneficial and works in harmony with any other therapy or treatment. You may feel one session is enough or sometimes two or three to work through deep-rooted issues.
